Cities sue drug makers over opioid epidemic

Cities in the Capital Region – including Albany, Schenectady, and Troy – are joining together to file a lawsuit against pharmaceutical companies over the opioid epidemic. Plattsburgh is also part of this same lawsuit.

Other counties in the state have filed suits already.

The suit alleges the drug companies misled health care providers about the addiction risks associated with prescribing opioids.

They also say the cities have incurred economic, administrative, and social costs relating to fighting the epidemic.
