Albany seeks input in naming new police chief

ALBANY - The city of Albany is looking for the public's input in naming a permanent police chief.

The city held its first of several community forums on Sunday. They provide residents with an opportunity to share their thoughts on who they want to lead the Albany Police Department.

Bob Sears has been acting as chief. It's been more than a year since the department has had a permanent leader.

Additional forums are scheduled for April 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Albany Public Library Washington Avenue Branch Community Room (161 Washington Avenue) and April 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the Sidney Albert Albany Jewish Community Center (340 Whitehall Road).
