Albany’s Tulip Fest kicks off with street scrubbing

Everything is coming up tulips this weekend.

Albany’s Tulip Festival returns for its 74th year after going virtual for the past two years.

Festivities kicked off at noon on Friday with the traditional Dutch street scrubbing.

Seniors from Albany High School and the children and family members of Albany City Hall staff took part in the tradition.

This year’s Tulip Queen Coronation ceremony will be Saturday at noon.

Meantime, last year’s Tulip Queen, Ashanti Bishop, had some parting words as she passes along the honor.
