Ambulance in Washington County crashes with patient inside

KINGSBURY - An ambulance and SUV crashed in Kingsbury on Wednesday. A patient was in the ambulance at the time.

NewsChannel 13's media partners at The Post-Star sent us pictures from the scene at Dix Avenue and Vaughn Road.

The Washington County Sheriff's Department tells NewsChannel 13 the ambulance was hit by an SUV at the intersection of Dix Avenue and Vaughn Road.

The driver of the SUV, 25-year-old Kassandra Martinez, had to be extricated from the vehicle and airlifted to Albany Medical Center. Her passenger was unharmed.

Three EMS members on board the ambulance suffered minor injuries.

The sheriff's department is investigating the cause of the crash.
