Schenectady man sentenced for killing stepdad by lighting him on fire

A man from Schenectady got the maximum sentence Monday for killing his stepfather.

Andrell Leppanen will serve 25 years to life in prison for the murder of 59-year-old Kevin Hawkins.

Leppanen threw gasoline on Hawkins, then lit him on fire after a fight in August 2016.

Hawkins died from his injuries two months later.
