Apple-picking season gets underway

CASTLETON - Goold Orchards starts apple picking Saturday.

NewsChannel 13 stopped by Friday to check out the crop. It was a chilly day, where Sue Goold, the owner, told us the weather was perfect for apple picking.

"If it was 90 degrees today, you'd still be thinking about being in your swimming pool. Today, you're thinking about, 'Oh, it's 65 [degrees]. Let's go out and pick some apples,'" she explained.

Kristy's Barn, just up the road from Goold's, opens its apple picking next week.
