Albany police investigate attempted abduction

Albany police say someone tried to abduct a 16-year-old girl on Robin Street.

They responded to the 400 block of Sheridan Avenue around 7:30 Tuesday evening. A woman there said she was walking on Central Avenue, when a man tried to strike up a conversation.

As she walked away, police say the man grabbed her by the wrist and tried to pull her toward a dark-colored SUV.

The girl was able to break free. She was cut in the mouth.

The suspect is described as a black male, around 23 years old. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detectives Division at (518) 462-8039, or submit an anonymous tip to Capital Region Crime Stoppers.
