August marks Immunization Awareness Month

Doctors are reminding adults that vaccines are not just for children. This comes as part of National Immunization Awareness Month - observed every August.    

The American College of Physicians says vaccines are safe, and protect against serious illnesses, like the flu, measles, and pneumonia.

Vaccines are especially important for older adults, and those with compromised immune systems.
