Emma's mother, Jennifer, was also shot while her father, Steven, shot and killed himself.

The Ballston Spa school superintendent says there will also be a one-hour delay Monday morning. To allow teachers and staff to meet and discuss how they are going to handle providing grief services for students.

The Ballston Spa superintendent said Emma Jones was a stellar student who excelled in everything she did.

Ballston Spa Police said Emma, her mother and father were all found dead in separate rooms of their home on Adams Circle on Friday.

It appears Steven Jones shot and killed Emma and his wife Jennifer before turning the gun on himself sometime last week.

They were found on Friday when police were called to do a welfare check after Steven Jones didn’t show up for work for several days.

Police haven’t said anything about a motive at this point.

It was a tough weekend for the Ballston Spa community, many people struggling to wrap their heads around how or why this happened.

The district has retweeted several links about the stress the holiday season can put on people.

There's also a list of resources on the school website to help students.
