Teen struck by car on Balltown Road, police investigating

A 16-year-old is in critical condition after being hit by a car while riding a skateboard.

Police say they responded to the accident on Balltown Road, near Almeria Road, at 11 p.m. on Wednesday night.

They say 16-year-old Luke Zink was wearing dark clothing and skateboarding in the Northbound lanes of Balltown road when he was struck by Brittany Gandara.

Zink was treated at the scene and taken to Albany Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

Police say that the driver is cooperating and they do not believe that alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.

Balltown Road has been reopened to traffic.

The investigation is ongoing.
