A North Greenbush bank was robbed on Tuesday.
North Greenbush Police Chief David Keevern says two males entered the M&T Bank on Route 4 around 11:30 Tuesday morning. He says they were armed with guns and wore masks when they walked in and demanded money.
Keevern says he did not want to comment on the amount or whether or not it was recovered when the two suspects were taken into custody.
However, he did say the suspects fired shots on their way out. One of the bullets struck a female teller in her arm. She is expected to be okay.
The bank robbery led police to a Motel 6 on Watervliet Avenue Extension in Albany, off Everett Road, near Honest Weight Food Co-op and across the street from the Ramada Inn and studios for Spectrum News.
Police say they took a group of suspects into custody at the motel. Police will not say what led them to the Motel 6, but they say they learned the two male suspects had been here. They were doing interviews Tuesday and sorting out everyone’s involvement.

Police had also said there was a car in the back of the motel that they believed was connected to the bank robbery. Just as police began leaving the scene, NewsChannel 13 saw a car being towed from the motel.

K9 units were also on scene.
Police would not comment on whether the guns or stolen cash were recovered there or at all.
The road in that area was shut down for a time. It has since reopened.
Julia Berchou, Corporate Communications at M&T Bank, released the following statement:
"We are deeply relieved to report that our customers and colleagues are safe and secure. There were two minor injuries, that we are thankful were not worse. A comprehensive criminal investigation is underway by local and state authorities. We are providing our full and total cooperation and all possible resources to assist in the investigation."
