GUILDERLAND - By now, you may have seen a picture of the local Halloween display that has Beatles fans screaming with delight. You could call it a "bare bones" tribute to the "Abbey Road" album.

So who's behind it – and what are they doing with the newfound notoriety?

The display is the brain child of Guilderland's Jeff Pitkin - who says it was just a neat idea he had to pay tribute to an iconic image of an iconic band.

Truth be told, his wife, Ellen, is usually the brains behind their family's Halloween displays.

It's way more than just The Beatles. It's a massive menagerie of the macabre that she started for their kids 20 years ago.

Some life changes last year nearly put the nail in their coffin. They became empty nesters. With all their kids moved out of the house, they thought maybe this was the year they would finally call it quits.

Then they received a sweet, anonymous letter for a neighborhood child, asking if their spook displays would return.

The skeletons have been annual favorites. Last year, they were playing baseball. However, nothing has matched this year's response. The Pitkins didn't want to waste it.

They're now taking the opportunity to do something special, and have created a Facebook page for donations to St. Jude's Children's Medical Research Center.

If you want to see the display in person, the address is 815 Via Marchella in Guilderland.

They've already got a secret idea in mind for next year. See if they'll share anything about it, by watching the video of Jerry Gretzinger's story.
