Police and state officials are still working to corral a herd of Bison that escaped in Schoharie County.

The Departments of Environmental Conservation and Agriculture and Markets sent out a statement.

The statement says they “continue to work with New York State Police and local law enforcement officials to provide assistance to the owner in his efforts to safely recover the bison that escaped from the farm.”

The statement goes on to say, the public is strongly cautioned to stay away from the area during recovery efforts, including flying drones or helicopters, so as not to startle or disturb these animals.

The herd of 75 bison escaped from a farm in Sharon Springs last week.

They’ve been damaging farms, and their unpredictability has people who live there on edge.
