GUILDERLAND - There were some terrifying moments for a mother and daughter in Guilderland. Police are investigating a brazen, daytime break-in attempt that happened while the family was home.

It happened at a house in the 20 West development around 11:30 Monday morning.

Police say two or three men tried to break into the home, smashing the front glass. A mother and daughter were home at the time. They hid in the home and stayed on the phone with a dispatcher until police arrived minutes later. They were not hurt, but police say they are shaken up.

Investigators do not believe anyone was able to get inside the home. Something frightened the men and they took off.

Police are now looking for two or three men in a white older model Infinity SUV.

They say there have been no similar break-ins reported in the area recently, but they're checking with surrounding communities.

Anyone with information is asked to call Guilderland Police at (518) 356-1501.
