Capital Region kids get lesson in bike safety

ALBANY - Children were able to hop on their bikes and get a lesson in safety on Saturday.

The Albany Police Athletic League held a bike rodeo at Locust Park. Kids were able to practice their biking skills with courses set up.

There was also a bike raffle, food and face painting for kids to enjoy. Not only is the event about teaching safety, but parents say it's about bringing the community together.

"It opens up everybody, the children and adults, to different activities going on in the community,” said Melissa Ciccarelli of Albany. "It gets people together and out and about."

May is National Bike Safety Month.
