There have been several water main breaks and burst pipes in the Capital Region over the past few days. No place is immune, especially when dealing with an aging infrastructure and dipping temperatures.

In Troy on State Street between 3rd and 4th streets, at 6 p.m. Thursday, a pipe required repair.

Then in Rotterdam, water gushed from a pipe at the 5 Corners, bringing traffic to a halt on Curry Road and Wallace Avenue.

That eight-inch pipe repair would shut down William Street all the way to the Boys & Girls Club.

Crews worked through Friday and finally, at around 6 p.m. they were packing it in and told NewsChannel 13 they'd be paving Saturday morning.

Town Supervisor Steve Tommasone reported residents would not have to boil their water.

A number of repairs were taking place in Albany, from a break at Watervliet Avenue to Colonie to a pipe burst near the Palace Theatre causing discolored water. The Water Department said it’s harmless, but could stain laundry.

Finally, in Elsmere, a stone's throw from the Delaware Plaza, four lanes of traffic were reduced to two lanes, causing traffic to back up for miles. The state's Department of Transportation put up signs last week of the impending work. Crews began working on a 48-inch Albany transmission line on Thursday.

A worker told NewsChannel 13 a lead joint gave way, leading to the leak.

The work on Delaware is set to be cleared by Sunday.
