Schenectady police sound alarm after string of car break-ins

October 02, 2019 06:57 PM

Schenectady police are investigating a string of car break-ins across the city.

Officers say they've gotten more than a dozen calls in the last few days. They posted a photo on Facebook.

Police say the thief or thieves are opening unlocked car doors and smashing out windows, stealing change, electronics and even people's personal information.

Police say the hits are not confined to a specific area, but have been spread out all across the city.

They are asking anyone who thinks their car has been targeted to give them a call so they can try to establish a pattern.

Investigators say they are looking for surveillance video from houses and businesses where these break-ins are taking place.

They are urging people to lock those doors and make sure nothing of value is left inside or visible through the windows.
