(NBC News) Charges have been dropped against Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress who has made headlines for and alleged affair with President Donald Trump

Daniels was arrested Wednesday in an Ohio strip club.

In a Twitter post, attorney Michael Avenatti said Daniels was performing in the strip club.

Daniels was arrested by undercover police officers after she allegedly "allowed a customer to touch her while on stage in a non-sexual manner."

Ohio law prohibits anyone who isn't a family member to touch a nude or semi-nude dancer.

Daniels was transported to jail and later released on bail.

Avenatti called the arrest a setup, politically motivated, and said it "reeks of desperation".
