The Albany Police Department has a new training facility it's really pumped about. A vacant office building on Washington Avenue Extension will soon be able to house dozens of new recruits.

The APD has been facing staffing shortages. They're down nearly 50 officers.

Just this week we learned more about the department's re-worked Neighborhood Engagement Unit.

Chief Eric Hawkins says that there will be a more formal announcement on the training facility in the days ahead.
