Ed Dague shared the anchor desk for 11 of his 19 years at WNYT with Chris Kapostasy -- now known as Chris Jansing.
She currently works for NBC News as a senior national correspondent for MSNBC.
Jansing reached out to her former station Sunday with her memories of Ed.
“Ed Dague was, quite simply, one of the great journalists of our time. That’s why so many people trusted him: his intellect, his commitment to truth and his devotion to his community. And it’s why all these years after he left the anchor chair, he’s still beloved by all who watched him, who admired him, who learned from him. The breadth of his curiosity and knowledge knew no limits and he selflessly shared it with me as a mentor and friend for the eleven years I was privileged to sit next to him at WNYT.
“But Ed was so much more than his work. He was an incredibly proud father, doting grandfather, and a loving husband. He was completely devoted to his dachshunds, or as he called them, his low-slung dogs. Ed had a wry, wicked sense of humor, something we agreed was needed since he so dearly loved the Cleveland Browns beyond reason.
“Today, I can still hear his laughter, his resonant voice, his wise counsel. The world is a lesser place without him but his influence on the Capital Region and the best of journalism endures.”
