Troy church at odds with city over removal of artwork

August 21, 2018 07:21 PM

TROY - Christ Church United Methodist in Troy is calling for an investigation after a city worker is caught removing art from their fence. The artwork is meant to address concerns over recent immigration policies.

The city says it's all a misunderstanding, but now the church is questioning their motives.

The display included one ribbon for each child taken from their parents at the border. Church members say they're wondering if someone within the Department of Public Works told the employee to remove the more than 2,300 ribbons.

The church is asking the mayor's office and police to investigate and say they're thinking about putting more ribbons up in the meantime.
