Department of Environmental Conservation urges Christmas tree recycling

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is reminding you that you can recycle your Christmas trees.

Most people keep them up for another week or so, but the DEC suggests checking with your town or city to see when they start picking them up.


In Colonie for instance, you can leave them out at the curb between January 2 and the last Friday in February.

Make sure all the ornaments are removed.

Some big-box stores will also take them back.
