Blighted Schenectady building knocked down for new library

SCHENECTADY - A building in Schenectady with a troubled past was torn down Friday.

The building on Crane Street was once home to Chubby's Pizza and Deli. There were a number of shootings and stabbings in the vicinity of the store.

The demolition makes room for a new building that will house a library and literacy center.

The county expects the library will be ready to open by early 2019.
