A church in California is receiving a lot of attention over a nativity scene that some are calling controversial.

The scene depicts Jesus, Mary and Joseph as a family separated at the U.S. border.

It shows the family inside three chain link cells topped with razor wire.

In a statement the church describes Jesus, Mary and Joseph as "The most well-known refugee family in the world.” They say the display represents what happens to families seeking asylum at the U.S. border.

Some view the display as a criticism of the Trump Administration.
