Cohoes man escapes from Alcatraz Triathlon

COHOES- 50-year-old Gary Ethier of Cohoes escaped from Alcatraz over the weekend.

He competed in the world class triathlon for the second time in the past eight years. He began training for it in February - and he crossed the finish line. He finished the race in four hours, 12 minutes and 58 seconds. The triathlon included a 1.5 mile swim, 18 mile bike ride, and nearly 8.5 miles of running.

He placed 187 in his division.
