Cohoes man sentenced for transporting large amount of marijuana cross country

A man from Cohoes is headed to federal prison for transporting large quantities of marijuana from California to New York.

Jeremy VanWormer, 32, previously lived in Selkirk.

Federal prosecutors say he had packages of pot mailed to homes he owned or to homes of people he knew. He also conspired with friends to launder $650,000 in drug proceeds.

VanWormer was sentenced Thursday to six years in prison, fined $20,000 and he has to forfeit $100,000 in drug proceeds.
