Later this afternoon, Colonie police confirm that they were notified by the Schenectady County UCC at 10:53 a.m. that they received an anonymous 911 call alerting them that an armed individual was headed to Colonie Center. The caller then abruptly hung up.

Officers responded to Colonie Center and met with mall management in which they put a safety plan in place.

The mall is currently open and officers are stationed at the mall out of caution.

As of the police department’s understanding, no lockdown of the mall was ever put in place; however, some individual stores decided to close on their own.

The origin and intent of the 911 call is currently being investigated by the Colonie Police Investigation Division.
