Colonie crash causes power outages

COLONIE - A car crash caused power outages Saturday afternoon.

It happened just before 12:30 p.m. near the area of Fairfield Avenue and Braintree Street. Colonie police say a car driven by a man from Rensselaer lost control going around a bend in the road.

The driver struck and broke a telephone pole and cut a gas line. National grid crews worked into the afternoon to restore power.

The driver was not injured. Police say drugs and alcohol have been ruled out as factors in the crash.
