The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing man.

They say they got a call on Thursday from the owner of the Dutch Hollow Farm on Running Creek Road in Stuyvesant, reporting a suspicious vehicle parked behind one of the cow barns. The person reporting believed that it was a hunter parked on his property.

The car was a red Honda Civic with North Carolina plates registered to 29-year-old William Amato.

The sheriff’s office soon after got a report from a family member that Amato  was missing. He had told the family member that he was going to be gone for about two hours on Wednesday, but he never returned home.

Amato is currently residing in Elizaville, but also lives in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

Amato is described as approximately 6-foot 1-inch tall, weighs 180 pounds, and has brown hair.

If anyone has information regarding Amato, please contact the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office at 518-828-3344.
