MALTA - A local veteran was given keys to his newly donated "tiny home" during a ceremony Saturday morning.

5-year Combat Navy Veteran Kevin stepped in to his new home after getting help from the community.

It all started with an organization called the Malta Veteran Appreciation Program. Renee Farley, the president of the program says the effort was well worth it.

"Malta Veterans is an organization that goes door to door to find our local veterans because we find that they typically will not ask for help" she said.

When the program discovered that a camper was donated to the Ballston Spa High School Technology Department to teach students skills in different trades, they saw an opportunity.

Students, local contractors, and businesses like Curtis Lumber all pitched in to help build the home.

The Solomon Organization then stepped in to have the home placed at its Malta Gardens residential community.

Kevin was too shy to speak on camera, but many say his move into his new home comes right on time for Flag Day.
