4-year-old Brady Bell joined dozens of families for the 6th Annual "Walk for Wishes" at the Hudson Valley Community College.

Last year, Make a Wish of northeast New York granted Brady's wish. According to his mom Lizzy Smalley, he was very sick and given only a 1 percent chance to live.

"Brady was born with idiopathic diaphragmatic myopathy, meaning his diaphragm didn't work when he was born and he ended up requiring a ventilator to breath for two years" she said.

Leanne Baker of Berne also walked this year with her family in memory of her daughter Ava Bryne. Ava relapsed from a rare childhood cancer before she passed away, wishing to spend time with her family at the Adirondacks. The family hopes to raise awareness of childhood cancer and their support for Make a Wish.

"We come and support all families like us, because we know how hard it is every single day."

The money raised at the event will cover the cost of wishes to come for local kids and teens with critical illnesses.
