An Adams man, who was convicted of rape in 2012, is being held on $20,000 bail.

Police say he left Massachusetts amid new sexual assault allegations.

Adams police issued an arrest warrant for him last June, on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender, after they couldn't find him during a compliance check.

Police say he gave them a false address.

NewsChannel 13’s media partners at The Berkshire Eagle say police identified him as Stephen Matthews.

The 30-year-old is accused of incidents that took place in Adams between July of 2015 and March of 2017.

He pleaded not guilty last week in Berkshire Superior Court.
