A two-car collision shut down part of Rosendale Road on Monday afternoon in Niskayuna, causing an impact on dismissal from nearby schools.

Police say the driver of a 2008 Toyota Prius veered into the other lane and sideswiped a 1999 Ford Mustang.

The Mustang wound up hitting a fire hydrant and a utility pole. The Prius went off the road and hit a tree.

The driver of the Prius was taken to Ellis Hospital with serious injuries. The Mustang driver was treated at the scene.

Rosendale Road was closed between Mohegan and River roads.
