NewsChannel 13 has learned that the man accused in Ayshawn Davis' death was released from jail back in June.

The Albany County Sheriff's Department says in June, Jahquay Brown was arrested for robbery, spent four hours in jail, and was released.

However, it was not his first brush with the law.

In October of last year, he was the victim of a shooting.

Police say he was shot in the head by Daquan Arrington on October 11.

A month before he was shot, Brown was identified as the driver in a shooting on 3rd Street and Thornton and was arrested in connection with that case.

In January this year, Brown was charged in a felony gang assault in the town of Colonie.

Earlier this month, Brown allegedly shot and killed 11-year-old Ayshawn Brown in a drive-by shooting.

He is due back in court Tuesday.
