Joe Bruno took a trip down memory lane on July 19, 2008 -- his last day as a state senator. He took a bus tour of some of his greatest accomplishments.
The tour started on the east steps of the state Capitol where the senator was given a sendoff from Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings and then Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco. The mayor presented the senator with a handmade blanket with pictures of city projects the senator had supported.
After boarding a bus with reporters in tow, Bruno stopped by the baseball stadium that bears his name on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.
Then it was onto the Rensselaer Technology Park to visit the RPI building housing one of the world’s fastest computers – IBM’s Blue Gene. Bruno helped secure the funding to bring it here.
The Rensselaer train station was also built with state money secured by the senator.
