A heartless case of animal cruelty in Central New York. Two dogs are hurt after police say they were thrown out of a moving vehicle on I-81 in Cortland County on Wednesday.

Troopers say they saw a tractor trailer driver trying to rescue the dogs and stopped to help.

One dog was bleeding and also needed its leg splinted. Another dog ate half a box of biscuits.

The dogs are now being treated at the Broome County Humane Society.

Police are now looking for an older Dodge Durango that's very dirty and has rust along the hatch near the bumper area.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (607) 749-1614.
