A convicted cat killer will spend the next one and a half years in the Schenectady County Jail.

Donald Birch was sentenced on Tuesday.

The 35-year-old man stomped on a cat last August then swung it against a tree after it was hit by a car, right in front of the cat's owner.

The district attorney on Tuesday called the attack "horrifying to all who witnessed it."
