Schenectady man found guilty of beating neighbor's cat to death

A Schenectady man is found guilty of beating a neighbor's cat to death.

The district attorney tells NewsChannel 13 Donald Birch Jr. intentionally killed the seven-pound tabby "in an especially depraved or sadistic manner."


It happened on Union Street last year, in front of the cat's owner.

Birch argued the cat was injured after being hit by a car, but a vet said the injuries did not justify the killing.

Birch will be sentenced in August. He faces up to two years behind bars.
