Driver killed in wrong-way crash in Saratoga Springs

Saratoga Springs police are trying to figure out why an Albany man drove the wrong way Tuesday night on Route 9, causing in a fatal collision.

Derrick Devonish, 44, was killed when he pulled out of the Homewood Suites hotel and drove south in the northbound lanes, crashing his Nissan Altima into a Toyota Rav 4.


The driver of the Rav 4was taken to Saratoga Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Police are trying to figure out why Devonish was driving the wrong way, but say it doesn't appear to be alcohol related.
