Capital Region law enforcement prepares for 'Drug Take Back Day'

Police departments and sheriff's offices across the Capital Region are getting ready for "Drug Take Back Day" on Saturday.

We know opioid addiction often starts with the misuse of prescription drugs. The Drug Enforcement Administration is partnering with agencies to hold the Take Back Day.

Police and deputies will be collecting unused, or expired medications, no questions asked -- and they will properly destroy them.

Last fall, Americans turned in more than 900,000 pounds of prescription drugs at more than 5,800 sites across the country.
