Demolition set for Albany home destroyed by fire

ALBANY - Demolition was expected to begin Thursday afternoon on a building damaged by fire in Albany.

Flames were shooting out of the roof when firefighters got to 294 Sheridan Avenue on Thursday morning.

A number of people -- including several small children, had to be evacuated.

A man is credited with helping to save lives.

Investigators say the fire started in a first floor hallway.

There is no word yet on a cause.
