Thousands are also voting by absentee or mail-in ballot to avoid interactions at the polls amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the State Board of Elections, more than 2.3 million voters have requested absentee ballots and over 655,000 ballots have already been returned.

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is October 27.
