Man prompts Gloversville standoff

GLOVERSVILLE - There was an armed standoff on North Main Street in Gloversville Friday afternoon. Police say a man was seen pointing a shotgun at cars, then walking into an apartment at 312 North Main - with the weapon. Hours later, when police entered the home, they found the man dead.

Police say they made multiple attempts to communicate with the man but were not getting through. During the ordeal, the man posted rants on social media.

Authorities say he was suffering from an emotional crisis.

Police confirmed that when the tactical team entered the house on Friday evening, the suspect was dead.

The suspect's name is withheld at this time, pending autopsy results.
