ALBANY -- Hundreds of cyclists crossed the finish line after a journey down the Erie Canal.

Sunday marked the end of an eight-day, 400-mile bike ride. More the 650 riders from 36 states and even Europe took part. Organizers say while it's an amazing journey, there's another more delicious perk to traveling across the state.

“It is 400 miles, but 50 miles a day is plenty of time… to see the historic sites, stop in the shops, [or] have some ice cream, which our riders do many times during the week,” said Parks & Trails NY Executive Director Robin Dropkin.

The trip was held in celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial.
