Residents count their blessings after large Rensselaer fire

RENSSELAER - The investigation continues into a big fire on 1st Street in Rensselaer Tuesday night.

The one building housed multiple homes. Eight adults and five children are now homeless. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries. Investigators say the fire started outside and they cannot rule out foul play.

There's a lot of smoke and fire damage. Restoration and cleanup crews are now beginning their work.

Despite the losses, people who call this home are counting their blessings, thankful for the people who helped them out.

There's still no official word as to what caused the fire. Police say two firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital. Both were treated and released.
