Arrest made after fire destroys Pittsfield convenience store staple

PITTSFIELD (UPDATED) – Pittsfield police arrest a man in connection with a fire we first told you about this morning. Police say 51 year old Thomas Roberts set fire to the A-Mart Tuesday night.

The General Store caught fire just a few minutes after closing. The building is likely a complete loss, and the owners NewsChannel 13 it will be a long process toward rebuilding and reopening.


Roberts is charged with arson and injuring a firefighter, because a firefighter got hurt while putting out the flames.Police tell us local business surveillance video helped them identify their suspect.
