Fire rips through Common Roots Brewing Company

March 26, 2019 03:06 AM

SOUTH GLENS FALLS -- A massive fire broke out at Common Roots Brewing Company in South Glens Falls around 7:20 Monday night. Most of the building is destroyed.

According to our media partners at the Post Star, the building was heavily damaged with at least seven departments at the scene.

The owners were at the scene and the business was open that evening. The Webers had broken ground on an expansion project just hours before the fire. The South Glens Falls fire chief said everyone made it out safely.

It still isn't clear what caused the fire. The brewery released the following statement:

Earlier this evening, a fire broke out at our brewery and taproom in South Glens Falls. While this is a very difficult time, we are grateful everyone got out safely.

We appreciate the efforts of our local first responders and thank each of you for your thoughts and support.

An additional update will be provided at the appropriate time.
