Flags on state government buildings will be flown at half-staff on Friday in honor of a fallen Fort Drum soldier.

Specialist Branden Kimball, from Oregon, died Wednesday in Afghanistan in what Department of Defense officials are calling a "non-combat-related incident."

He was a 10th mountain division soldier and worked as an aircraft structural repairer.

DOD officials say the incident remains under investigation.
