Family and friends of Joe Bruno celebrated his life and his many accomplishments on Friday.
The former State Senate majority leader died Tuesday night at the age of 91.
A ceremony at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy took place Friday morning. Organizers say it was Sen. Bruno's wish to have one last visit to his namesake stadium.
A hearse carrying his casket entered the stadium and made a trip around the warning track one last time.
Members of the public were welcome to watch at a social distance from their cars.
Members of the Tri-City ValleyCats paid tribute to Bruno by posing for a group photo while holding a large banner thanking him for everything that he's done.
This was the first year since the stadium opened in 2002 that Bruno was not able to throw out the opening pitch. That's of course because the season was canceled again due to the pandemic.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Pius X in Loudonville. The church also live-streamed it on their website.
Hear from people who say the senator inspired them by watching the video of Emily Burkhard's story.
