Former sergeant from Clifton Park sentenced on child pornography charges

A former sergeant with the Saratoga County sheriff's office is headed to federal prison.

Peter Farnum of Clifton Park was sentenced Monday to 87 months for possessing child pornography. He will then be on supervised release for 20 years.

Investigators say Farnum had more than 1,000 images and videos on his family computer. Many were imported while he was doing online research related to his position with the sheriff's department.
